Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA)
ALGA is a professional organization committed to
supporting and improving local government auditing through
advocacy, collaboration, education and training, while

ALGA was formed in 1989 and has enjoyed a growing
membership. There are more than 300 organizational members
and over 2,000 individual members of ALGA. Our membership
represents a wide diversity of local government audit
organizations ranging from one-person audit shops to
others with more than 75 professionals. The Directors of
some of our member organizations are elected and others
are appointed. Our members audit cities, counties, and
service districts, such as schools, transportation, and
water. We also encourage associate memberships for

The National Association of Counties (NACo) was created in

counties, representing over 80 percent of the nation's

NACE-National Association of County Engineers
The National Association of County Engineers (NACE) is a

NDAA–National District Attorneys Association
NDAA
is the nation's largest, primary and most influential
organization of prosecuting attorneys. A merger of NDAA
and the National College of District Attorneys recently
took place. The National College of District Attorneys
(NCDA) was founded in 1969 by the National District
Attorneys Association (NDAA), the American Bar
Association, and the American College of Trial Lawyers to
provide continuing education for the nation's prosecutors.
In 1992, NCDA was named the official training arm of NDAA
and a close collaboration between the associations
resulted in enhanced training opportunities for
prosecuting attorneys. |

NACTFO-National Association of County Treasurers and
Finance Officers
The National Association of County Treasurers and Finance
Officers was formed as an affiliate of the National
Association of Counties in 1954 at the NACo Annual
Conference in Omaha, Nebraska. The organization was
originally formed as the National Association of County
Treasurers (NACT) but was changed in 1957 to the National
Association of County Treasurers and Finance Officers
(NACTFO) to broaden the membership. NACTFO

NASCIO

NACM is an organization of court management professionals

Association of State Budget Officers
Founded in 1945, NASBO serves as the professional

OCCA-Ohio Clerks of Court Association
The eighty-eight elected Clerks of Court make up the Ohio
Clerk of Courts Association are proud of Ohio's brave 200
year history. Clerks of Court are portals to court
systems throughout the state. All historical cases and
documents filed with a court or judicial orders are
processed through the computerized systems in the Clerks'
offices. Clerks of Court are also the Court and the
State's bookkeepers, responsible for collection of court
fees and motor vehicle sales tax, and for the issuance of
auto, watercraft, trailer and mobile home titles. |

recently passed legislation, we have changed our name from
the General Accounting Office to the Government
Accountability Office. The Government Accountability
Office (GAO) is an agency that works for Congress and the
American people. Congress asks GAO to study the programs
and expenditures of the federal government. GAO, commonly
called the investigative arm of Congress or the
congressional watchdog, is independent and nonpartisan. It
studies how the federal government spends taxpayer
dollars. |

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is an
unprecedented effort to jumpstart our economy, create or
save millions of jobs, and put a down payment on
addressing long-neglected challenges so our country can
thrive in the 21st century. The Recovery and Reinvestment
Act is an extraordinary response to a crisis unlike any
since the Great Depression. With much at stake, the Act
provides for unprecedented levels of transparency and
accountability so that you will be able to know how, when,
and where your tax dollars are being spent. Spearheaded by
a new Recovery Board, this Act contains built-in measures
