Summit County General Plan Implementation Committee

The General Plan Implementation Committee was formed in the fall of 2006 and has been meeting every other month. The Committee includes members from the County of Summit Planning Commission, representatives from County agencies, community officials, and others involved in the General Plan steering committee. The Committee has been discussing ways of incorporating smart growth development concepts, low impact design measures and sustainable green building practices into some of the grant programs administered by the County of Summit Department of Community and Economic Development.

In the past year, the General Plan Implementation Committee has discussed the need to promote green building practices and low impact design to encourage more sustainable development in the County. The County of Summit Department of Community and Economic Development, Planning Division staff is exploring ways to possibly encourage more low impact design and green building initiatives in the County.
