The
Cuyahoga has provided water for drinking, cleaning, transportation, fish
and game to countless generations of northeast Ohioans.
In the 1800's, canals and dams along
the river spurred the growth of industries and cities. A cost of the
growth was the alteration and pollution of the river.
In recent decades, many organizations and people have worked
successfully to fix problems caused by past uses.
This website
describes work by the County of Summit, its partners and advisors to restore and protect the middle
Cuyahoga at the Munroe Falls dam site and upstream
Removal of the Munroe Falls Dam
