The Summit County Sheriff’s Office is proud of its affiliation with GASP (Guardians Against Sexual Predators).  We have partnered with GASP in an effort to increase community awareness reference sex offenders living in our communities, protecting our children while they use the internet and other issues relating to the protection of  children.

 This group of civilian volunteers is also being trained to help law enforcement in the event of an AMBER ALERT and cases involving lost or missing children.

LEP stands for Limited English Proficient persons. The Summit County Sheriff's Office, along with a select group of law enforcement, civic leaders, and nationally renowned persons involved with interpreter services, has developed a model protocol and policy for law enforcement when dealing with LEP persons.
 

   
Honeywell and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) are partnering in the area of child safety. Together, they have created Got 2B Safe! Think Smart and Take Charge, an abduction prevention program for elementary school students. The program includes activities designed to teach 3rd and 4th graders simple rules that can increase their personal safety. In 2003, Got 2B Safe was distributed in 135,000 classrooms in 25,000 schools throughout the United States. This year, we are extending the reach of Got 2B Safe to 50,000 elementary schools and have created an online resource for kids, parents, guardians and teachers.

eSORN or Electronic Sex Offender Registration and Notification, to effectively track sex offenders throughout Ohio. This database is linked to all 88 of Ohio's sheriff's offices and all 32 correctional facility records offices operated by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. The purpose of eSORN is to provide one location for all of Ohio's law enforcement officials to freely share information on registered sex offenders. Some portions of this database are also open to private citizens who want to be aware of sex offenders who live close to their home or their child's school.
 

                    

 

 

 

The Ohio Investigative Unit is comprised of agents who are fully-certified undercover, plain-clothed peace officers who investigate violations of liquor and tobacco laws, as well as food stamp fraud. The agents have criminal jurisdiction and serve as the sole law enforcement agency in the state with the power to administratively cite a liquor permit premise before the Liquor Control Commission.
 
   

All adults convicted of felonies for which the statutory minimum is at least six months come into the state's prison system, which is under the supervision of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. Many convicted felons are not, however, sent to prison. Instead, they are supervised in the community through probation or other community corrections alternatives.
 

 

The C.A.T. Eye stands for Community Anti-terrorism Training Initiative. The program was developed to assist local communities fight terrorism. This program involves the joint efforts of law enforcement and the community. It is designed to educate the general public on the terrorism, how to detect and report suspected targets, and develop a anti-terrorism, educated, national neighborhood block watch program.

 

The purpose of this Web site is to provide citizens of Summit County, Ohio who are victims of domestic violence with information and resources to help them increase their safety and well-being. The Web site is also a resource for concerned friends and family members and professionals who would like to assist victims of domestic violence.

The mission of Family Solutions is to strengthen those individuals and families who are affected by the stresses of a rapidly changing society. Therapeutic, educational and supportive services are utilized in the treatment of troubled relationships, addictive behaviors and personal crises.

The Child Guidance Center treats: the loss of a loved one, drugs and/or alcohol issues, family concerns, trouble adjusting in school, peer problems, pre-school problems, abuse issues, family conflict, problems with brothers and sisters (sibling rivalry), out of control behavior, ADD/ADHD, parent/child relationship problems, and eating disorders.

Info Line maintains a computerized resource directory of over 1,100 agencies and services for the Summit County area. It is the sole source for comprehensive information and referral, senior information and referral, and child care resource and referral services in Summit County.

The primary goal is to protect children from harm by helping parents to manage their problems in ways other than abusing or neglecting their children. Children Services believes that if a home can be a safe place, it is the best place for children.

The Summit County Children Who Witness Violence Program offers immediate home-based crisis intervention and round-the-clock trauma support services for children — birth to 17 years — who witness violence in Summit County.
Victim Assistance Program is a non-profit organization based in Akron, Ohio. Victim Assistance, working with law enforcement, courts, and community resources, acts as an advocate for victims of crime and their families.
